Michael Brown
President of SouthPark Group
Michael is the president of The SouthPark Group located in Charlotte, North Carolina. Michael has spent the past several years managing government and public affairs for multinational corporations, trade organizations, local governments, and universities with special emphasis on government relations, community engagement, coalition building, and digital advocacy strategies.

Michael began his career working in local government management focused on economic development. He was a senior member of President Barack Obama’s historic 2008 and 2012 presidential campaigns and was ultimately asked to serve as a political appointee from 2009-2014. As an appointee Michael served as a senior member of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, leading the Affordable Care Act grassroots outreach and engagement efforts. Prior to that he served as the director of Congressional and Intergovernmental Relations for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Michael also served as a special assistant for the U.S. Small Business Administration, working exclusively on increasing access to contracts, capital, and credit for communities of color.

Michael earned a Bachelor's of Science degree in Economics from the University of South Carolina, a Master of Public Administration from North Carolina Central University, and studied urban policy and development at Georgetown University. Michael has also been recognized as “Who’s Who in Charlotte,” several 40 under 40 publications, and sits on several local and national boards.
